Caffe Oliva

Ohio Street Beach

The name's changed from The Lucky Strike to the Seven Ten Lanes but the place is still the same. Following a month-long city-wide contest The Lucky Strike announced its new moniker at a 10th Anniversary celebration on August 26 2005 at the Lincoln Park location. John Farrell 24 of Lincoln Square picked the winner; now the lucky guy has free bowling for life. This location sports the same 1920s Art Deco panache as the original Lincoln Park address. University of Chicago cats and hip Hyde Parkers will be drawn to the retro feel of this place exemplified by the vintage furniture and old-school light fixtures. Whether you're in the market for a quick burger and brew or feel like shooting some pool or bowling a few frames this is your spot.

Houndstooth

3369 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60657

Named in homage to legendary University of Alabama coach Bear Bryant and his signature houndstooth hat, Houndstooth Saloon may be in the heart of Cubs country, but there’s no doubt it’s a pure Alabama bar and headquarters for homesick Southern transplants.

Country music lovers with or without a bona fide Southern pedigree flock in for Country Night three days a week, when a sea of rowdy regulars in ten-gallon hats stand brim-to-brim to down drink specials and tap their booted toes to the deafening country twang. The music is just as loud on other nights, though the crowd tends to be mellower, content to settle in at the simple wooden tables, dig into a burger, and check the latest scores. An obvious Dixie spirit keeps the scene lively at Houndstooth Saloon, where anyone with a hankering for ‘Bama football or loud country music will find a great hoedown in the wilds of Wrigleyville.
